The Version That Works: Stop Performing and Let the Right People Find You

The Version That Works

Last week we were talking about progress over perfection — and how measuring yourself against the wrong baseline quietly kills the momentum you have already earned. Today I want to take that one step further. Because sometimes the baseline itself is the problem. Not because it is too high. Because it was never yours.

"Every piece of your life that you go through enriches your story even better when you are ready to share it." — Rita Richa

Rita Richa spent years building a life that looked like success on paper — the corporate title, the good money, the right city. On the inside, she was singing "Belle" through the Tesla service shop and wondering why nothing was sticking. The version she was performing was polished. It just was not her.

There was a moment I caught myself performing.

Not lying. Not faking expertise. But presenting a version of myself I thought the market wanted to see. A little more polished. A little less direct. Shaped by every successful creator I had studied and quietly tried to mirror.

It was exhausting. And it was not working.

The moment I let that go, something unexpected happened. The right people started showing up. Not more people. The right ones.

Here is what I want you to hear today:

Visibility built on someone else's template collapses under pressure. It was never yours to carry.

True visibility is not reinvention. It is refinement. It is the practice of making your existing message easier for the right people to find, recognize, and trust.

This is the foundation of the 5 Tenets of Influence in Your Message Is the Business, and it begins with identity. Influence does not start with your content calendar or your posting frequency. It starts with you being willing to sound like yourself in public.

Why This Matters for Where You Are Right Now

You are not struggling because you lack knowledge or credibility. You are struggling because there is a gap between what you know and what your ideal clients actually feel when they encounter your content.

When your message is misaligned with who you genuinely are, the right people scroll past. Not because they do not need you. Because they do not recognize you yet.

When that alignment clicks, the friction between your content and your conversions drops. That is your message working as the business.

Rita spent years deciding the most honest parts of her story were too messy to share. They were not. They were the message.

Try This:

Pull up your most recent piece of public content. A post, an episode description, your bio. Read it slowly and ask yourself one honest question:

Does this sound like me, or does it sound like who I thought I needed to be?

Now rewrite one sentence. Just one. Bring it closer to your natural voice. No overhaul required. One sentence is where clarity begins.

That small shift is not a small thing. It is you choosing to be undeniably you.

Your work matters. Keep making an impact 💛
