Sheila Slick on Why Your Story Matters: From Self-Doubt to 100 Episodes

Sheila Slick, MS: Your Story Matters

Sheila Slick, MS pressed play on her first podcast recording and almost quit.

Her voice sounded different to her. Her arms looked wrong. The editing felt like it would never end. The self-doubt arrived immediately and loudly.

She is now approaching her 100th episode.

From SCORE Chair to Podcast Host

Sheila is the host of Milestone Moments in Business and Leadership, a podcast born out of conversations she was no longer able to have when her term as SCORE Chair ended. She had spent two years talking with aspiring and existing entrepreneurs every day, helping them work through pain points, growth questions, and business decisions. When the term ended, the conversations did not have to.

So she started a podcast.

When the Conversation After the Recording Changed Everything

What she did not expect was that one of those conversations, the kind that happens after the recording stops, would change the trajectory of everything she was building. A guest who was a professor in AI and innovation looked at her and asked: why aren't you programming with AI?

She had been a programmer for decades. She had built software companies. She had built a STEM education program around an iPod touch in a third-world country so her children would be prepared for what was coming. But she was afraid of AI. She did not know where it was going.

His question changed that. And Pod2Book AI was born. A platform that takes your podcast recordings and produces a full book manuscript in under three hours.

Not months. Hours.

The logic behind it is straightforward. Not everyone listens to podcasts. But the content you have already created, the conversations you have already had, the time and energy you have already invested, those things can reach a completely different audience in a completely different format. Same message. Bigger reach.

The 38-Guest Mistake and What It Taught Her About Time Blocking

We also talked about time blocking, which Sheila has turned into a real system. She learned the hard way. She automated her entire booking process, left for a week, and came back to 38 guests booked. That mistake taught her that efficiency without intention is just a faster way to get overwhelmed. She now records in blocks, back to back, at the time of day when her energy is best.

Your Story Matters

Her message to every podcaster who is wondering whether any of it matters:

If you change one person's life with your conversation or your message, that's good enough. Then you should be unstoppable.

Your story matters. The person listening to your voice right now is there because of something you said. Do not underestimate that.

What to Take From This Episode

If you have ever pressed play on your own voice and immediately wanted to quit, or if you have been sitting on a message wondering whether it is worth sharing, this episode is for you.

Sheila did not start Milestone Moments because she had it all figured out. She started it because she missed the conversations, and then she found herself inside a tool she never planned to build, a book she never planned to write, and a 100-episode milestone she almost did not reach. As she puts it: if you change one person's life with that conversation, that is good enough. Then you should be unstoppable.
