Did you know? It's possible that you can have real expertise, years of experience, a book, a podcast, a service that makes a difference, or a message people genuinely value, and still struggle to explain what someone can actually buy from you.
I see this often with people who are doing meaningful work. They know their work matters. Other people may even tell them how helpful they are. But when it is time to name the offer, describe the result, set the price, and invite someone into a next step, everything can suddenly feel scattered.
That does not mean you are not capable.
It usually means your expertise has not yet been organized into one clear, buyer-ready offer.
A lot of experienced people believe they need more visibility.
Sometimes they do. Being seen and being heard matter. People cannot connect with work they never encounter.
But often, the deeper issue is clarity.
The people around you may see that you are knowledgeable. They may enjoy your content. They may know you have experience. But they may not quickly understand what you help with, why it matters to them right now, or what happens if they decide to work with you.
When that is unclear, more visibility can simply create more confusion.
This is where several of the Five Tenets of Influence work together.
You need to Be the Solution by clearly connecting your work to a real problem or meaningful shift your people want to make.
You need to Be Easy to Follow by helping them understand where they are, where they are going, and what the next step looks like.
And you need to Be Paid With Purpose by giving the work a clear structure, a clear value, and an honest invitation.
None of that requires you to shrink your experience into a catchy phrase or explain your entire career every time someone asks what you do.
It means you can describe the work in a way that helps the right person recognize themselves in it.
Ask yourself these three questions:
Who is the one priority buyer I am here to help right now?
What specific result or meaningful shift do I help them create?
What is the clear next step they can say yes to?
If your answers still feel broad, complicated, or difficult to price, you are not behind. You may simply need to bring what you know into clearer focus.
Your work deserves a clear way for people to understand it, value it, and take the next step when they are ready.
