Not just who will see it. Not just how it will perform. But what happens next for the person on the other side?
This is where most creators get stuck. They are creating consistently. Showing up. Building something meaningful. But there is no clear path forward for the listener or the reader. No next step. No invitation. No system guiding the relationship. And without that, even your best content cannot do its job.
In Your Message Is the Business, I write about the 5 Tenets of Influence. Most people learn them as a business framework. But they also work as a content creation filter.
Before you create anything, run it through these five questions:
Does this help me Be Seen — does it put my expertise in front of the right people?
Does this help me Be Heard — does it communicate clearly who I am, who I help, and why I am the one to trust?
Does it make me Easy to Follow — is there a clear next step at the end?
Does it position me as the Solution — does it connect my expertise to a specific problem my audience is trying to solve?
Does it move toward Being Paid With Purpose — does it support a real pathway to how someone actually works with me?
You do not need to hit all five with every piece of content. But you should be able to answer at least two or three before you hit record.
If you cannot, that is not a signal to scrap the idea. It is a signal to sharpen it.
Pick one piece of content you are planning to create this week. Run it through this filter before you start. See what it reveals.
Keep that question close. Not as a pressure. As a compass.
